What are some famous gestures of respect in sports? by @praveshjain1991
Answer by Pravesh Jain:
This gesture is as respectful by Ronaldo as it is miraculous.
21 days after the Tsunami in 2004, a little boy was found on a deserted beach. He survived on a driving raft for 3 weeks while eating noodles.
He told the rescuers after he was found that he had no fear because he wanted to keep living. Martunis lost his mother and 2 sisters.
His words: “I had no fear because I wanted to keep living. I wanted to see my family again and become a professional footballer.”
Cristiano Ronaldo heard about his story and brought him to notice of the Portuguese FA who donated a new house for him and Cristiano personally made sure he could study later in his life, and that his other requirements were looked after. Martunis told Cristiano that his wish was to walk the same path that Cristiano did and become a professional footballer.
Yesterday, Sporting Lisbon, the club where Cristiano begun his career, unveiled a new player: it was the 17 year old Martunis.
A few good men. That's all this world needs, not supernatural beings.
Believe in miracles yet?
